MALIN HÄSSLEMARK
"A World-Class Voice" (SR)
Malin Hässlemark is a singer-songwriter from Stockholm with deep roots in Jämtland. Before starting her solo career, she was the creative force behind the Americana band Fluru, a project that took her across borders and won hearts in Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
In the small community of Hammarstrand (Jämtland), surrounded by majestic mountains in northern Sweden, Malin’s musical journey began in her family’s home. Growing up to the sounds of country legends like Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings and Emmylou Harris, and thanks to her father’s beloved record collection, Malin developed a deep love for country music early on. This early connection to the genre has become the foundation of her artistry, where her soulful voice and sharp songwriting embody a Nordic sensitivity combined with the emotional power of country music.
In the spring of 2024, she released her debut EP “Wildfire,” a four-track introduction to her solo career. The EP was produced by acclaimed guitarist and producer Ola Gustafsson, known for his work with artists such as Lars Winnerbäck and Melissa Horn. The collaboration also includes jazz and soul singer Ida Sand, who arranged and sang backing vocals on tracks like “One of These Days” and “Dancing in the Rain.” Malin’s husband, Claes Hässlemark, contributed keyboards and backing vocals on several tracks, creating a harmonious blend that reflects their creative and personal partnership. Andreas Quincy Dahlbäck provided drums and percussion.
The song “One of These Days” topped the “P4-toppen chart in Jämtland for several weeks, and the EP received glowing reviews both in Sweden and internationally. The title track “Wildfire” was picked up by Håkan Steen's (Aftonbladet) "Best Right Now" list on Spotify, and several international playlists, charts, and radio stations have highlighted Malin’s music, which now lives a life of its own and is played worldwide. Malin Hässlemark is often described as a singer with a world-class voice, and her unique timbre has been compared to greats like Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt. With a mix of gripping lyrics and timeless melodies, she captures the essence of classic American country while keeping her music modern and relevant for today’s listeners.
Since 2024, Malin has performed at notable events including a guest appearance with Lars Bygdén in Stockholm, a celebrated hometown show in Ragunda, and as one of the selected artists at Storsjöyran in Östersund.
In the fall of 2025, she will release a series of new singles, building anticipation for her debut album in early 2026. She will also perform at the iconic Dalhalla venue during the summer of 2026, marking a major milestone in her growing career.
